New month… new resolutions

To celebrate the first whole new month back in Paris, I’m making some new resolutions. I’m not going to share them all with you today, because if I do I’m sure to bollocks it up… suffice it to say that they have to do with health and happiness. That doesn’t tell you much, I know, sorry! :-)

Navigo_Bus-TramToday I’m going to use my new Pass Navigo for the first time ever. (Shades of using my Midd card to get into buildings at Middlebury.) When I left Paris I had a car, a scooter and a bicycle, but now I’m an official bus lady. I’ve been buying carnets or single tickets, and will now be able to do that cool thing that ladies do: just swipe their purse in front of the Navigo box, hear the little “bleep” and go stare down some young kid so he’ll give up his seat for a lady with crutches.

My Freebox arrived today, too! Yay. The only problem is that I can’t use it until my line is “ready”, whatever that means these days. But it’s here, in all its multi-connectivity glory, and it takes up as much space in my room as all of my other belongings put together. Oh, well, the sacrifices we make for high technology.

So in the spirit of making all things new, today I’ve washed the dishes and cleaned my room, cooked myself a real lunch, made an appointment for this evening for a doppler to check that my phlebitis is finished, finally got a few voice lessons to help on the income question, have begun (BEGUN, I say) sorting my papers, done some other administrative stuff, cleaned a bunch of radishes for snacking, cooked an artichoke for my dinner after handbells, put on some different jewelry for the first time in two months, and painted my toenails.

farmvilleI have to give some reluctant thanks that FarmVille is temporarily down… it’s probably because of that that I managed to get something done today… sad but true! (Thanks, Dan, by the way!!) Let’s just hope that my strawberries (the short-term crop one plants when one is sure to be home in four or five hours) don’t wither and die if I can’t harvest them. Useless waste of time, I know, but it’s fun to mess around in a virtual garden while waiting to have a real one of my own.

Off to my appointment and to handbells. Thursday evenings are fun – it’s great to be playing again, and SO nice not to be in charge of a rehearsal… I can just come and play, and let Fred worry about everything else!

Cheers to all, and Happy New Month…
